Dear Judges,

A "Walk for Awareness" is my product. I planned and organized an event that brought people of the community together to support a great cause: safe driving. My best friend died December 10th, 2011, due to a car collision. Even though, I had already chosen my topic for my Graduation Project, the traumatic event of losing a close friend made me realize so much more that my topic not only affected others but also myself.

Throughout this project I have found myself being able to enjoy myself while going out and networking with business leaders of the community. I was surprised to find myself good at communicating with others. In fact, I have decided to make Communications my major in college.

My mentor, Chief Scott of Smithfield Police, helped me drastically during the entire project. He made me view things with less stress and calmly. I found that the most difficult part of my project was advertising which goes hand in hand with the less difficult part which was finding wonderful sponsors. My project was a success and I believe that in my life it has made a difference and for many others. Driving safe is not something to be taken lightly and “The Walk for Awareness” brought people’s attention to a major problem, problem that affects us all.

Sincerely,

Gabriela T. Amador
